New Forum for Music Organizations

During 2002, the Edward Johnson Music Foundation initiated a series of meetings among some two dozen local music organizations that regularly produce concerts in Guelph and Wellington County. This Round Table of Music Organizations has now met four times and has identified several shared concerns, issues and areas needing development within local music organizations. The group has also identified some common projects to aid local music organizations in achieving their goals.

Round Table projects currently in the planning stages include a session on volunteer recruitment, retention and skills development, and a series of professional development sessions in which participating organizations would meet with an expert in a given field to discuss successful techniques and models in that field. The Round Table is also working on a celebration of International Music Day planned for October 1, 2003, and is considering a joint fundraising initiative.
