Member Services
The Arts are for everyone...
One of the first community arts councils in Ontario, Guelph Arts Council gained its charter in May 1975. Its major roles then and now include:
- facilitating / collaborating in the establishment of community arts projects and groups (more than 30 over 30 years);
- providing services, including information / resource centre for artists, arts groups, and the community at large;
- representing arts, culture and heritage on many community and regional committees / task forces;
- advocating in support of arts and heritage both locally and beyond.
Guelph Arts Council has also offered and continues to offer several popular community programs:
- historical walking tours, booklets, notecards, and heritage slide show to raise awareness of Guelph's significant architectural heritage
- Doors Open Guelph to give residents and visitors a chance to see close-up many of Guelph's historical and architectural structures
- Guide to Public Art in Guelph brochure to raise awareness of local public art treasures
- workshops / information sessions to serve professional development needs of local artists and arts groups
- Schmoozefest networking gatherings for the arts community

We offer two categories of membership:
Regular Membership includes:
- Arts in Guelph Bi-monthly newsletter
- Master Events Calendar
- Resource Services:
- reference materials such as directories, funding information, artists guides and many booklets on heritage as well as the literary, performing and visual arts
- a library of arts-related periodicals not readily available elsewhere in the community
- resource files on area artists and arts-related topics and organizations
- computerized Arts Directory listings of local artists and arts organizations
- display racks for information brochures on local and provincial events
- Administrative Services (fee may apply):
- newsletter inserts
- meeting space
- mail holding
- office equipment (photocopier, postage meter, fax machine, scanner, binding and folding machines, etc.)
Enhanced Membership includes all the benefits of the Regular Membership (above) plus access to the easy to use tools to create a personalized web-space on the guelpharts.ca / wellingtonarts.ca website portal. Benefits and features vary for each membership type and include:
- the opportunity to list arts and heritage events in the on-line master calendar
- the ability to create a personal sub site within the guelpharts.ca / wellingtonarts.ca architecture
- access to a wide range of professional development and shared resources.
Two options available, including assisted maintenance where Guelph Arts Council will help you create and maintain your web presence for nominal annual fee.
